Polycarbonate – our high performance plastic material
“Indestructible” is a word that describes this material particularly well. A crystal clear high performance plastic material which can be used for all purposes for which other plastics are too soft, too fragile, too easily scratched, do not keep their shape or are not transparent enough.
Polycarbonates are thermoplastic polymers, structurally polyester and carbonates. They can be dyed as required, and are suitable for a wide range of different applications and purposes:
- Spectacle glasses and lenses
- CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray discs
- Car seats
- Insulating material for refrigerators
- All types of glazing
- Safety helmets and visors
- Car body parts
- Adhesives and medical products
Thanks to our research and development, it has become even easier for engineers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to source the right polycarbonate material. We develop premium plastics for sustainable architecture – for attractive looking efficient insulation and permanent protection. Due to their good biocompatibility, polycarbonates are also used for a number of medical disposables.
